Game On Philly: The Citywide Task Force on SBYD

Background

In 2018, The Collaborative convened a Citywide Task Force on Sports-Based Youth Development with more than 65 cross-sector members whose work produced the Game On Philly report.  This report details recommendations around access, quality, research, and sustainability of the work. The report was released in partnership with Mayor James F. Kenney, and continues to serve as a blueprint for the work of an expanding SBYD ecosystem in Philadelphia.

Goals

The goals of the Task Force were to identify barriers that exist in Philadelphia that keep our kids from accessing the power of sport and addressing them with actionable recommendations that could be carried out over a five-year period by the Collaborative and its partners.

Outcomes

The Game On Philly report defines detailed recommendations around Access, Quality, Engagement, Research, and Resources.  This plan focuses on Programs, Places, and People and serves as the blueprint for the programmatic and advocacy efforts of the Collaborative.
